Rossi, Lorenzo tied for BMW M Award 2009 at 285 points
With three races to go, the championship leader Valentino Rossi, and his teammate Jorge Lorenzo are tied for the BMW M Award 2009 for best qualifier.
Jorge has been very consistent through out the season, as he has qualified on the front row at every track, in his 2009 campaign, which includes five pole positions. However, he has only won once from pole, and that was in the last round at Estoril. He says that his main strength is to do one very fast and strong lap, in the qualifying sessions, and he has proved that in this season. Now he is tied with Valentino Rossi for the best qualifier award.
On the other hand, Valentino Rossi, at the beginning of the season allowed Lorenzo to take over the BMW M Award advantage as he qualified off the front row for three consecutive rounds, Jerez, Le Mans and Mugello. However, since then, his qualifying form has been excellent and his overall record of six poles (the most poles he has had in a single season since joining Yamaha) thus far in 2009 mean he is also a worthy candidate of winning the BMW M Award.
