Lorenzo on Pole in QP session at Estoril Circuit

Lorenzo takes pole position

It was the Spaniard, Jorge Lorenzo of Yamaha, who took the pole position with his best lap time of 1’36.214. It is his fifth pole this far, and he is on pole at the circuit, where he got his maiden MotoGP premier class win. It couldn’t get better than this for him. The championship leader, his teammate, Valentino Rossi, was 2nd fastest in the run with his best lap time of 1’36.474, whilst Casey Stoner made a great comeback, qualifying at the front row of the grid in third place, ahead of Honda’s Dani Pedrosa, who was fourth fastest.

Pedrosa is joined by Colin Edwards (Monster Yamaha Tech3) and Randy DE PUNIET (LCR Honda) on the second row. Loris Capirossi, Andrea Dovizioso, and Nicky Hayden qualified at the third row of the grid, whilst Mika Kallio qualified in tenth place, thereby completing the top ten.
Stay tuned for more MotoGP action, as QP session for quarter liter class i.e. 250cc class, will commence in a 10 minutes time.

For the record, Julian Simon has taken the pole, in the 125cc QP session earlier this afternoon.
MotoGP race commences at 13:00 local time. I wish Rossi finishes ahead of Lorenzo, his teammate.
